Ceplukan or Ciplukan is the name of a small fruit, which when cooked is covered by enlargement of flower petals. This fruit is also known by various regional names such as Cecenet or Cecendet (Sd.), Prosperity (Md.), And coupling (Bl.).
Generally grown wild, Ceplukan is usually found mixed with other herbs and shrubs in gardens, moorings, dry fields, curbs, forest edges and exposed parts of the forest in the hot sun.
The fruit is popular with children. All parts of the plant, from the leaves to the roots and are usually dried first, are used as ingredients of traditional medicine.
Who would have thought the price of Ceplukan fruit would even now reach Rp. 10 thousand one seed in Brunei. While in malls in big cities in Jakarta, it reaches Rp. 500 thousand.
Ceplukan can be used as an anti-hyperglycemic, antibacterial, antiviral, immunostimulant and immunosuppressant (immunomodulator), anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, and cytotoxic.
Also as a diuretic, neutralize toxins, relieve a cough, activate the functions of the glands of the body and anti-tumor.
Even Ceplukan rhinoceros Physalis peruviana is cultivated in South America, Australia, and New Zealand. The fruit is partly exported to Europe. []
